On Saturday, April 21st, Evan sustained a severe contusion on his spinal cord during his last rugby game of the spring season. The top of his head collided with another player’s knee and caused his spinal cord to bang against the rigid wall of his spinal column.

For the first 15 minutes after the impact, Evan reports that he lost all sensation and movement throughout his body. And although sensation returned within the first 24 hours, he is slowly working on regaining movement in his legs and arms. Fine motor coordination in his fingers and toes will be the last return.

As Evan continues to improve each day, this blog will serve as a forum for friends and family to share their support and stay up-to-date on his incredible recovery. Evan has been an inspiration to us all for as long as we’ve known him, and he inspires us today more than ever with his unfaltering positivity and conviction to   be as good has he can be.

Let’s continue to be there for him and live by his example!
